Unable to post on a certain thread

I wanted to post a response on the “No one predicted a pandemic...” thread, but am not allowed. How does that work?

If you go to the top of the thread, you will see it has been closed by the webmaster.

there is not usually much appetite here for political rantings, which tend to devolve into shouting matches.
