Relief Stations
 

Was just reading the latest Boat U.S. magazine and came across an article about how the the California Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is installing 160 "relief stations" to be installed on popular lakes. Collectively they anticipate to keep more than a million gallons of sewage out of state waters every year. The facilities hold 500 gallons of waste and feature solar-powered lights and fans.

To me sounds like something that would work well in areas like Braun Bay, outside of West Alton, etc. What do you think ?

If Yes, How do we get the State of NH, Fish and Game, Marine Patrol to listen.

Most boaters have a “potty” or similar on board for the ahem...more “solid” waste...if someone needs to urinate, I doubt most would leave the water.
Just my opinion of course. We visit Ragged Is. a lot and they have facilities there. Alton bay has facilities as well.

A few years ago, I would have agreed with that. Now that many boats are bow-riders instead of cuddy's, and lots more pontoons, I think the ratio of potty's is way down.

Mostly, in NH to start a new program you need a new tax or fee. There isn't a lot of excess cash waiting to be spent. Can't imagine those who don't go to sandbars, those on other lakes or those with heads on board want to pay for something like this for a few dozen boats at a sandbar that don't have on-board facilities.
BTW, this wold be a DES issue, not F & G or MP.

Most of the people peeing in the lake are drinking beer after beer after beer. Highly doubt someone is going to fire up there boat every twenty mins and head for a potty station...................

No matter what kind of boat I own, a “potty” is a must for my wife!
I can get by without one though. When out trolling for salmon for hours on end, she needs one! :D
A jaunt to a “porta of call” is usually how the day ends...

Many of the pontoons have porta-potties and a slide up privacy curtain. A lot of the bigger bowriders do as well, though, some require a contortionist to use them!

That’s correct! No curtain on our “toon” but nearby fishermen may have caught glimpse of an early “moon” :D

Relief Stations
 

My main reason for posting this was the comments I see on this forum about places like Braun Bay. Would you feel more comfortable going to a location like this if a "Relief Station" were located there and well maintained.

I also visit Ragged Island, and am actually a volunteer in support of the Lakes Region Conservation Trust. A toilet facility does exist there, but at times we have had an issue with it being vandalized, ( a subject for another Thread).

Just looking for thoughts on this subject,
