Lake cams

Does anybody know what happened to http://www.rattlesnakecam.com/lakecams.htm
It's been down a while and I can't get my daily "fix" of the lake :(

DRH 11-10-2005 12:15 PM

Cal, I tried it at 11:15 AM and it was working.

Doesn't seem to be working

I tried earlier this AM, and again at 11:20, and got an error message "Requested URL not found on this server." When I then dropped back to http://www.rattlesnakecam.com/, I got a place holder site. Hopefully they will be back up soon!

The rattlesnakecam.com site is hosted on the winnipesaukee.com server and I am in the middle of a server migration.

The Rattlesnake CAM site should be working again later today. Expect similar problems accessing winnipesaukee.com in the next several days.

I just tried it again at 11:25 AM and it came right up.

I think the reason some can see it and some can't is that Don Z. is in the process of moving everything over to the new server. As he moves each function over, he has to change the Internet's address routing for that function from the old server to the new one. The "propagation" of the new server's address takes time to spread across the Internet, and while that's in progress some ISP's can access the new server while others can't. In time, all ISP's will be able to access it.

Snake Eyes

Thanks to Don Z. for all his hard work in moving to a new server.

When rattlesnakecam.com comes back up, Snake Eyes will still be down as the modem is not working. I hope to fix that on Saturday... oh dear! I will have to go for a boat ride to do that.... Tough job, but someone has to do it. This will be the latest in the season that I have had my boat in... gotta love it!

Perfect explanation DRH! :)

Good Luck!

Don & IG:
Best of luck with the upgrades, modem repairs, migration and propagation, etc! It all sounds technically intense! I've noticed that during this transformation that the ability to upload photos and all of the comments about the photos is temporarily unavailable.....or have I yet to be propagated? IG: I just arrived at my cottage (after a month's absence!) , fired up this old computer, and I have to tell you....the wind is whipping and it is about 33 degrees up here in the mountains in Alton. I hope things calm down for your boat trip tomorrow! McD

No comment on that but the reason you can't post pictures or comments is that I shut that function off for everyone at the beginning of the server move. The PhotoPost database is so huge that it was best just to freeze it during the transition. After I work out a few more issues I'll transfer this site to the new server and everyone can catch up with their photo posts. That will hopefully happen in a few days and there will be problems accessing the site for 24-48 hours after that, just like when we switched over the RattlesnakeCam site. Thanks for bearing with me. Hope I wasn't too technical.
