Harris Cruiser 220 - question on trolling motor setup
Just purchased a Harris 220 pontoon boat and am interested in adding a Minnkota trolling motor. Wanted to get some opinions on what size trolling motor to get along with the length of the down rod. Since I plan to install it on the bow of the boat which has a solid front door, I wanted to see what mounting plate you may have used to permit the trolling motor to lie in a horizontal position when stowed left to right. Much thanks for any thoughts!

You will want the longest shaft available which I think is a 72” as you will want to see the head of the motor above the playpen walls on your pontoon. Depending on the clearance from the floor to the bottom of your door you may have to modify it so it clears your motor when closed. Most manufacturers make bow doors to allow clearance for trolling motors. Edited to add...you may be OK with a 60” shaft depending on the height of your deck off the water at the bow. Good luck!
