Outboard shortage
Here's a good article on the current outboard motor shortage. One local Yamaha dealer told me it would take 2 years to get a new Yamaha right now.

Outboard shortage
Yup! I have some broker friends in the Boston area. Inventory is a struggle. I’ve heard some new lines for regulator and Everglades are taking orders for ‘22. ‘21s are gone
BIG ticket items for sure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
There is a shortage of almost everything. I hope it doesn't get worse.

No shortage of quality built www.parsunmarine.com outboards ...... including light weight two-strokes ..... shipped from Oh Canada .... where quality really counts so you don't get stuck out on that distant and isolated cold, cold water!
www.parsunmarine.com/advantages ..... for sale from Canada shipped to you in U.S. on Ebay. Trying to buy a Yamaha ..... better you get a pair of wood oars ..... and start rowing! What you need is a smaller boat that can be rowed! |
There are major shortages in the semiconductors and connectors used in both the automotive and marine industry. Many items have lead times of 52 weeks presently.
Semiconductor supply chain is my primary business so I am seeing it first hand. Components are going for 10-100x normal pricing with huge demand. |

I reached out in March to a local dealer looking for a year old 22' bowrider in Fall of 21 or Fall of 22. I am still waiting to hear back, but wanted to get my name on the list. We will see how the pricing looks when/if something comes up. |
I sell keypads used in the Mercury Marine joystick assemblies. This year’s demand is double that of previous years. They’ve also developed a joystick-controlled bow thruster specifically for pontoon boats.

3 weeks ago registered the boat at Covered Bridge in Dover.
Was told then Mercury O/B 150 H.P. range 17 week wait. 20 H.P. and under 26 weeks Pontoons (not sure if their models or all?) NONE, earliest late August with 2022 model release. |
Was expected. We were told this would happen.
No humans working worldwide and the supply chains are disrupted for months. And as we all were warned it would cause shortages in multiple areas....electronics, PCBs, plastics, metal fab, etc. THANKFULLY now we have plenty of masks for boating season....and hand sanitizer, toilet paper and rubbing alcohol! But you may not have a boat. Or an engine that works. Or that $1.39 part made in only China that just left port yesterday and will be here in a month or so. Take good care of and baby your boats and engines this season -- because this won't be changing during our short NH boating season. I hope I'm wrong. |
All this gives me more justification for multiple boats in the personal fleet.
These shortages will make my wife see the light, right? |

To what Gravy Boat wrote, sales new & used this year way past last years records.
What may be the bigger issue in the short term is not the Rona but the the Evergreen blocking the canal with 18,000 containers. It was cleaned up quickly but everything is out of wack now with sailing dates, unloads, customs, and shipping from bonded warehouses etc etc. It will be a while before all is normal? My limited experience w/ this is following my stuff out of China or Korea w/ paper work and following on A.I.S. |

I got a Motor but Boat is Backordered
Quote:
They shipped the motor months ago. Boat has no delivery date? I cant tell you how concerned I am |

But look at it this way; Your brand new motor is likely worth substantially more than you payed for it so if you're short on funds you can always cash it in if you see no boat on the horizon. Here's another thing to blame on Covid! |
