Fire across from Ames Farm

I was just reading the Citizen online and as of 8 a.m., a structure fire was being fought across from Ames Farm. Well, to me, anything across from the Farm is part of the Farm. Anyone have more information? My mother and I are hoping it's not the barn...I learned to play "Chopsticks" on an old piano in that barn, and saw "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" for the first time there while ducking the dive-bombing bats.

Thanks for any info,
Rose

Rose, latest article on Citizen on line has the address as 2817 Lakeshore Dr. Ames Farm is 2800. That would put that dwelling on the other side of the street from the the Farm buildings themselves, and further east. It also said firefighters had trouble getting to the structure because it is at the end of a steep driveway well back off the road.

Here's that link: http://www.citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll...095/-1/CITIZEN

Thanks for the update

Thanks for the update, Upthesaukee. The Farm sits on a pie-shaped piece of property with the narrow part at the lake and which extends across the road and up the mountain behind it. For me, to hear that a structure across the road from the Farm was on fire meant that a part of the Farm was on fire. There are ~8 structures on the mountain side of the road. The one caveat is a house about a quarter of the way up the mountain which is privately owned. Its driveway is between the barn and the house that is known as the Annex.

Sorry to hear someone else lost their home, but glad that the housesitter and the dogs are okay.

We were talking to someone today who asked about the former mayor or Rochester (Roberge) dying in a structure fire on his cottage on the lake. Does anybody remember where it was or any details?
