Buckeys Restaurant
Buckeys restaurant in Moultonborough NH on RT 109 is one of the best places to eat in the lakes region. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is the friendliest. It reminds me of the show Cheers. Everyone seems to know everyone. Just like the sign says, Good food and Good Friends. :)

Agreed
I like Buckey's as well for a casual lunch. The atmosphere is the opposite of fancy but very comfortable and charming. The food is basic pub style, but again, very good. I would compare it very favorably to The Mug, which I also like. I have always had friendly wait staff and I wouldn't hesitate to go back anytime.

Sounds like my kind of place! Can someone provide more information about location? Rte 109 is a long road! :D Thanks! Perhaps we'll check it out later this week!

its only a mile or two south of 25
in the neighborhood of Dad's Market (old name, don't remember the new one) and Captan Barts. if you get to 171, you went too far south

Follow Rt 25 through Moultonborough; take a right onto Rt 109 south. Buckeys is 1/2 mile on the right.:liplick:

Buckey's
it's right after the sign for the "woodshed". if the parking lot looks full stop anyway. usually the crowd is at the bar and seating in the dinning are is pretty fast.
great clam chowder, steak tips to die for and the hamburgers are a meal un to themselves. this restaurant has probably seen three or four reincarnation over the last ten years. buckey's has found the right combination. enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!! winnocturn |
Thanks for the directions, everybody! We'll be planning a trip over there soon! ;)

Directions to Buckeyes
The directions already posted are accurate, I just want to update the new name of Dad's Market. Dad's is now Skelley's Market a name you may recognize from Wolfeboro restaurants. The most visible improvement is that Skelley's Market is CLEAN and inviting, offers a very good lunch selection, and has a great stock in trade. The Skelley family knows how to run a food business and they are doing us all a favor by running this market. They also serve Bailey's ice cream and carry Bailey's Hot Fudge Sauce. If you are in the area, I urge you to stop and give them a try. You will not be sorry you did.

Skelley's Market
I agree with Camp Guy. Skelley's is really clean, and the sandwiches and other selections are really good. The chicken salad sandwich is about $5 and too much for one person to eat. They also carry pies from The Pie Guy!! Just wish they had more than a Porta-Potty for facilities.

Sure would be nice if Waldo Peppers could "fly" over and start a new business over on 25. |
if I had more thumbs, i would give the Mug as many down as I had...

the Mug has become the family's gold standard for bad restaurant comparisons.. like "lets stop here - it can't be as bad as the Mug..." |
Buckey's
I read on this forum people reccommending Buckey's and decided to give it a try. Four of us went to Buckey's fourth of July weekend.
I knew I was in trouble with my vegetarian sister-in-law when we walked in the door and saw dead animals on the walls. But she looked at the menu and said "I'll have fish". We waited in the bar, had a cocktail and 35 minutes later were escorted to our table. My husband ordered the lobster roll special. My sister-in-law ordered fish. The waitress said "sorry, we are out of fish". "Ok....I'll have salad." Thirty minutes later the waitress returned to our table to say "sorry, we are out of lobster rolls". At that point we left. |
Bad food at Buckey's
Gee, I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience at Buckey's. We live about 2 miles from there, and although it's nowhere near the "best" food in the lakes region as is reported earlier in this thread, it's good pub food. The burgers are terrific. I don't know the owners, but the staff has always been very attentive. The female bartender is very nice. If you want fish try Kevin's Place in Center Harbor. Best restaurants remain Mis en Place in Wolfeboro (just had a recipe printed in Bon Appetit) and Canoe, IMHO.
