Meredith made the list for the Best Small Towns Across America

Meredith was the only one in NH that made the list. There were a few in VT, ME, and a bunch in Mass.

Happy to not see Dover on it. This town sucks these days....I'm happy to head north to Gilford every day after work to escape the madness. :D

Not a chance in hell Dover would have made that list...the fact that we both work there automatically knocks their score down even further!

I was impressed, until I saw the restaurant they recommended was Hart's.

There are so many articles on the web, best towns, best cities, most affordable, friendliest, rudest, best retirements, most traffic, they are all just "click bait"!
I have a house in Meredith and I will agree it's a great town but I'll bet the writers of most of these articles have never even visited these places.
I don't know how many articles I've read saying Manchester NH and Springfield Ma are great cities to move to, REALLY?
You have to take every article on the web with a grain of salt.

Meredith, NH is famous for having the longest stoplight intersection in the State of New Hampshire. When driving though that big Meredith intersection, suggest you bring a book to read while waiting for the light to change. ......

And, the NH-DOT wanted it to be a two-lane wide roundabout, back in 2010. .....

Weird that the NH and Mass towns are all vacation spots. All wonderful places, to be sure, but hardly "small towns" in the traditional sense of harking back to a simpler time

Oh come on now Gary.....be nice
Harts has been a success for many years while others have fallen by the wayside. I still go there for my turkey fix
Also, their frozen turkey pies are the best in the country......seriously
Add a pint of gravy, stuffing and you'll think grandma made dinner

I am on Gary side, Harts has been removed from our restaurant rotation. Bland. Did I say bland?

I'm laughing now because you are right.
Just for the hell of it I time the lights occasionally. In Ft Myers at the corner of Daniels and rt 41 there 24 lanes of traffic at the lights and the wait is never more than 2.5 minutes
Going east from Meredith onto rt 25 it is more than 3 minutes.
Not complaining.....nice to have Meredith famous for something : )

Well, I do agree if I want my turkey fix, I'll go to Harts.

However, because I once ordered fried clams there, I realized the only item on the menu I'd order again, is turkey.

However again, turkey is not something I want frequently. So I prefer going to a restaurant with more options done well.

And I agree, it is a Lakes Region institution.

My grandma was a lousy cook.

Was that the DoT or a proposal touted by some vocal residents of Meredith?
I keep hearing towns wanting to get rid of lights - or avoid lights - to keep a small town vibe.

I don't agree that a roundabout does that for anyone... but that was the push at one time.
