Try Denver, LA, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Miami! Seattle is a piece of cake!

Of course, "gridlock" was born in DC! |
Well, we've been trying to change the lakes region for years. Just take Lakeport and Meredith for example. Totally transformed to attract new people from other states to come and play. Now, it's here.. Embrace the feeling, because it will not trend backwards. MONEY has found New Hampshire and MONEY changes everything. Good bad or indifferent, it changes everything.
We asked for it and now we have it. Exposure... We have to accept the harm has been done and embrace with open arms all the new people that will be showing up. No matter where they are from, even south of the border. We have to remember that New Hampshire is the " Home of the Free and the Land of the Brave. " LIFE FREE OR DIE STATE ". Everyone had to accept us when we moved here years ago. Now I/WE have to do the same to everyone else that moves here. |

I wonder where all the tourists are sleeping in the lakes region?
Back in the Day, there were a lot of cabin colonies: pretty much gone now, it seems. Are the toursits mostly day-trippers now? |

All depends on what you’re looking for…we’re in Washington now and Idaho is like New Hampshire 50 years ago. It’s what we like…peace and quiet!

Rangely Lake Area of Maine.
I spent a number of weeks on Thompson Lake in Maine. Reminds me of Lake Winni in the 50s. Peace and quiet. And property values are a heck of a lot more reasonable!
How long will this last? |

All flat so can see bumper to bumper traffic for miles. Took more than 3 hours. Once past Dallas - then Ft Worth traffic. Same. The big mistake of the interstate highway system is that the inital roads were designed to go through the middle of each major city. Dumb to put Route 93 right through Concord instead of going around city. Same with Manchester. Although they eventually added to Route 93. To avoid along the river in Manchester. On another note. Denver is insane for commuter traffic. But back to the Lakes Region. There are various alternative routes to avoid Meredith traffic. But all of those routes are secrets. And what ever happened to Exit 21 on Route 93? |

Didn't Laconia restrict vacation rentals?
|
I would call it regulated but it is still mostly permitted, within the new rules.
It is permitted in the Commercial Resort (CR) and Shorefront Residential (SFR) zones with no limitations on the number of separate rental periods. A lot of the Weirs area falls into those categories. It is permitted in the Residential Single-Family (RS), Residential General (RG), and Residential Rural (RR1) zones in a seasonal dwelling unit for a maximum of 15 separate rentals or a maximum of 120 nights, whichever occurs first. |
