Track Design and Familiarity Essential for Instruction...
One of this Winnipesaukee forum's members is very familiar with this race course.
Appearing in my "signature", the taller of the two (pictured) persons is a Massachusetts driving instructor who is responsible for approving "snowbird" instructors for BMW-CCA track events in New Hampshire. ;) |
Nostalgia
It's nothing like the races at Belknap where spectators stood at the edge of the road, or they did hill climbs by the ski jumps.

If getting close to the action is what you want, there are always opportunities to be a corner marshal. ;)

Every year I'm surprised that the crowds keep coming back. It seems that many recent years have been cold washouts, as the final weekend will be this year.

Not this weekend, but during the week we were saying we have never heard the constant drone of motorcycles in the background like we did this week. I think it will turn out to be a very busy week. I can't remember if the state does a count or just Laconia?

Well, the 100th Loudon Classic was memorable, no doubt about that.
Weather conditions were pretty rough throughout the day but it was the 10 or so red flags (due to crashes) that will probably stick out the most in my mind. I can't say what changed because the conditions during morning practice were pretty much the same as when the race started. Lap times between practice and the race were similar and everyone was riding clean enough yet traction seemed to disappear come race time. Still, it was remarkable to see how quickly the MotoAmerica riders adapted to the NHMS road course in their few days here and their general lap times in the dry were remarkable...on par with or quicker than our fastest locals. Hopefully the downed riders are all ok. Such a crazy set of events that unfolded yesterday... |
