Hart's Third Chance

The fam decided to give Hart's a third chance tonight (after a few years away).

16 ounce prime rib was excellent and mashed were great.

Chicken fingers and fries were also excellent.

Jumbo turkey dinner was very good, but the turkey is just...turkey. Moist, for sure, but no spice or zing or anything. The stuffing was pretty neat, though.

The loser was the turkey pie, which was really bland. My wife lost interest 1/4 way through.

Finished with pumpkin bread pudding and peanut butter pie, both of which were very good.

There was live music tonight, a woman playing light acoustic guitar that could be talked over, which was a nice touch.

Prices were reasonable for the quantity, and the service was good—a tad slow, but attentive.

Overall, we were pleased to have a good experience as the location works well for our commute to camp, and we'll be back.

If you've not tried Hart's recently, maybe give it a go!

Deep in my heart, I knew, someday you'd see the light...

Awesome that your crew tried so many dishes, like I'm reading a professional review. But no mention of the carrot slaw with Ritz crackers? Those and a G&T make the whole meal for me :)

I tried it again a few weeks ago and was not impressed. We sat at the bar because we thought we would get better service, not so.
I also got the prime rib cooked medium and was disappointed, it was dry and had no taste.
I won't be going back any time soon, too many other options in the area we like better!

Did you really like mashed potatoes Think? I’ve always found them to be flavorless, likely instant. For me the biggest drawer is the Turkey soup. I wanted to like the Buffalo turkey dip but it was all dark meat in there. I’ll stick with the 405 Grill or Tower Hill for that.

In the past, I've been offended by their mashed—I believe I might've called them "geriatrically bland" in a former review—but last night they worked.

In fact, I took bites from both the top of the mound and from that which was immersed in the au jus and both were good.

The only thing that was criminally bland was the turkey pie (which, incidentally, we were all hoping would be great).

In this day and age where the majority of the restaurants over saturate their food with salt and sugar or seasonings containing lots of salt and sugar, I find Harts Turkey farm to be a welcoming change from the norm. I've had their turkey pie many times, it's not heavily seasoned at all, but adding salt and pepper by my own measurable amount, has always done the trick for me.
My go to is the Poutine with the turkey gravy, if my wife wants a different appetizer, we end up with the Poutine and then whatever she wants.

We love Harts but don’t get there as often as we would like. We always go for the turkey, either the dinner or the open face turkey sandwich. Always good, always what we expect. And let me not forget the butternut squash, it is awesome. This post is making me hungry.
