Power on Bear Island

Can anyone confirm that the electric power on Bear Island is out?

Both Cams stoped working last friday and my answering machine doesn't answer.

I would say that those are pretty good indicators.

Power Company

Have you called the power company?? Last week with the wind and storm Rattlesnake Island went on and off several times and completely messed up my phone line and modem. The webcam did not send pictures and the phone was stuck on busy.... for about 48 hours until I could get there to reboot everything.

Most of the time everything just works again after a power outage. This was unusual.

One of the cams on bear is on a phone line and the other is a satellite hookup. The only thing they have in common is electricity. They both went dead at the exact same time during bad weather. Looks to me like the power is out on Bear.

The cams being down is no big deal, the aquatherm being off for a long time is not good.

Island power

Bear Islande:

Pine Island Guy and I are probably skiing out to the island this weekend. If we do we will check out your place. PI does have power.

Misty:

Are you sure you won't be skating or walking out to the island? Unfortunately, skiing any where in the Lakes Region, save Gunstock, is impossible! Good Luck. Take pictures.

No power on Locke's Island

Locke's lost power about a month ago which I reported to Public Service after a cautious walking trip the day before the "BIG WIND". PS is unable to repair until either "safe ice", which is unlikely until 2007, or "Iceout 2006". I cannot
fault them for a "common sense decision". I'll wait!
