Gutters

Can anyone recommend a company that can do a small seamless gutter installation in Gilford? I need 34’ of gutter with two downspouts. Pretty quick and simple… it’s completely undercover and only about 8’ off the ground as it’s under a waterproof deck. Could make good fill in work on a rainy day….

Everyone I have called is months out…

Thanks!

Dan

Not sure if you've called Lakes Region Seamless Gutter, but I've used them twice with great success:

[Mobile] (603) 630-3464

Speaking of gutters, over the years, we have tried all the things that come up to keep leaves, pines needles etc out of them but nothing really seems to work Have you or do you know anybody that has tried leaf filters or gutters? (can't think of the name right now) We're sick of cleaning out gutters.

I had gutters installed on a house two weeks ago by Quality Insulation of Meredith. I had signed a contract just before winter so I am not sure how far out they are scheduling.

I've used Affordable Gutter Guy on a few projects and have been very happy with there communication, promptness and quality of install.

Another option, which I've used on a few projects, is Fiber Gutter. I consider this one of the best products out there. You can get it in up to 40' lengths (so would be seamless in your scenario). Just cut to length with a miter saw and install the fiberglass end caps with their 2part epoxy (supplied separately), install outlet flange (piece of 2" pvc pipe) and attach with stainless steel fasteners. It comes with instructions. Just were latex gloves (learned that lesson the hard way...).

Dan, I had a seamless gutter company drop off the gutter and hardware for a 34’ gutter last Fall. My (carpenter) brother helped me install it (very precarious location on roof’s edge 20’ from the ground). If doing the work yourself is an option, the company is EAGLE SEAMLESS GUTTERS out of MA. They do deliver to the Lakes Region. They rolled and cut the gutter in my driveway and had a bag of installation hardware ready. Maybe have some delivered and hire a local handyman to install?
I’m having them deliver another gutter this year for my garage and this time I can do it myself as it is an accessible height.

Thanks for this! Quality is stopping by tomorrow to look at the job!

Gutters

I had a relatively small job done by American Gutter Company (a Veteran and First Responder owned company), (603) 490-6258. They did a fine job - no muss, no fuss. Ask for Derek Ball.

I don't have anything super-constructive to add to this, I just wanted it to appear right next to the "Sally's Gut" thread in "Today's Posts" so when I click to check in on the Forum I see SALLY'S GUT GUTTERS

Good day!

So do they use the leaf filters? We are trying to find out if they really work or are like so many other things they try to sell.

Tis, these gutters are being installed under my deck as part of the under deck ceiling system I installed so no leaf filters.

What I can tell you about leaf filters is don’t bother with those cheap plastic white ones that the big box stores sell that snap in your gutter. I installed some of those at my home and they let more water go over the gutter than in it!…they are just terrible!

I replaced some of those plastic ones with some stainless steel mesh ones that are bendable. You can bend them into a trough shape that fits inside your gutter and they work very well and don’t impede water from flowing into the gutters.

I'm hoping others with experience with the various types of gutter screening will chime in. It seems to me that success depends on the nature of tree debris falling on the screens. Pine needles, in particular, can poke into even small openings. I would think that periodic cleaning would be needed anyway, although perhaps not as often. And then, I imagine picking pine needles out of openings could be quite tedious, and not easily done by hose or leaf blower. I've been doing my own gutter cleaning with a leaf blower twice a year, when the roof is absolutely dry. I don't mind the parts that are one story high, but on the places where the ground is two stories down, I am reminded by great nervousness that at my age I probably should not be up there!

Dick, on a prior house in NJ I installed a bull noosed gutter topper like Gutter Helmet. I had previously tried screens sold in Home centers but still had to clean them once or twice a year. The gutter helmet worked much better.

We have the same problem. I don't know what we have on there now but it all gets stuck in the top. I was hoping for more replies. We are wondering if leaf filters work. You know the ones they advertise constantly?

In my opinion, none of the "Leaf Guard" systems work. They cost a lot, get in the way of cleaning and divert water during heavy rains. A partial solution is to install 3"x4" downspouts to eliminate the bottleneck, but be careful if it's piped into ground drains

That's what I'm worried about, we would spend thousands for something that still doesn't keep the debris out.

TiltonBB 05-25-2024 04:25 AM

I had Leaf Filter come out for an estimate a few years ago. It was almost like negotiating a car purchase. They started at a crazy high price and after some discussion and sending them to the door they dropped to a much lower price and I signed the contract.

I have been happy with the filters and they have eliminated the annual job of cleaning the gutters.

Really? That is the kid of info I was looking for. So instead of say 7000 they will cut that in half? i think they do it by the foot right? And most importantly you have NO cleaning?

This is what Lakes Region Seamless Gutters did at our camp. The gutters still get filled with debris and need annual cleaning, but the water can still flow easily.
