Oil Spill in Paugus Bay
1 Attachment(s)
A large, used oil tank spilled sometime Monday night at Meineke Car Care Center on Union Avenue. This event highlights how critical it is that shorefront businesses have a response plan in place if contamination on their property occurs to ensure that all necessary parties can respond in a timely manner. Paugus Bay is a critical resource for our community, providing drinking water, supporting diverse ecosystems and recreational activities.

I thought that there would have been some kind of containment barrier / reservoir ( ? ) But I have not seen the whole story yet.

A job well done to quickly mitigate the spill and begin cleanup efforts. In the past, or if the people involved were lazy or nefarious, this might have been ignored until it became a much bigger problem.
Kudos to the collective efforts here. Seems like the health of our big, beautiful lake is constantly under threat, and I'm glad so many people care. Now everyone go have a Thirsty Thursday, cheers! |

Just a thought, if you have an outdoor heating oil tank, this could be you. Maybe not into the lake but, a groundwater cleanup can be just as, or more, costly. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |
Accidents happen.... Kudos to all those people who quickly did the right thing! Thanksfully no real damage!
