Online boater certification questioned

This is THE best step in the right direction to make our waterways safer. Eliminate the online boater certification and the 14 day temporary certificate. This also eliminate the rental test. :D

Braodhopper -- although I agree the on-line test is somewhat of a "joke" and has ten ways to Sunday to subvert it's intent ....... eliminating it doesn't seem the right solution. First and foremost, nowhere in that article (and i may have missed it) did it say they would repeal recognition of NASBLA. Thus, one would simply change web sites and get certified & NH would lose all those precious $15 donations

Just a thought -- there is no "perfect" solution !

Phantom,

New Hampshire recognizes the state approved NASBLA course and the courses offered by the USCG/Auxiliary and US Power Sqaudron.

Those courses offered by Boatwise, Boat US, etc., though they may be good, are not NH state approved. Proctored testing is part of the USPS and USCG courses and should be the way that NH tests. There is too much that is not retained by those who skim through the on-line course just to be in compliance by having their certificate.

Throw out all that other crap in their about orange lights, swimming with observers, etc, and now you have a HB that makes sense.
