Gas Prices
What are gas prices looking like at the lake? Any talk about what there expected to top out at this summer?
I know I for one won't be making as many trips up as I would like. |
It's between $2.76 (BJ's in Tilton) and $2.89 (Giliford Mobil). Hopefully they won't go to much past $3.00. Isn't that sad, I'm "hoping" for $3 a gallon.:emb:

I think he's refering to "on" the lake.

Ah, the sailboat and paddleboat need no gas........ The powerboat will just cost what it will cost, oh well.

In Barnstead/Alton today I saw $2.79 - $2.89. I have never before today spent over $50 for a fill-up. I'll be car-pooling to the lake whenever possible this season. I can pick you up around 5:00 on Friday for a small fee:D |
I'm willing to bet that the prices will NOT affect 90% of people on both the roads and the water. It may have a little when it reaches the $4.00 mark.

That's a good possibility but it's liable to effect other businesses where people are NOT spending in order to afford gas:( . |

High gas prices will have many indirect effects. Personally, I was boat shopping last fall during the Katrina gas spike. I chose a smaller boat because of the prices. During those few weeks people I know spent more time on the beach or the sandbar rather than cruising the lake. At least once we docked the boat and drove the car to dinner, specifically to avoid having to fill the boat.
There will be similar effects on other industries as people make small changes to avoid or at least defer the pain. The effect will be minimal as long as most people feel that the price will go back down in a few months. But, if people start believing that these prices are permanent, the effect will be more widespread. |
small sample
I saw $3.10/gal at one marina on Winni this Thurs.

I know the high prices effected my travel plans last summer, and I'm sure they will this year. When you figure in the cost of taking 4 people on a day trip with meals, ticket fees, ect., that $50 gas bills awful hard to swallow. Especially if I can just stay home and go to the beach.

I can already hear it
The sound is echoing in my ears "uncle Bob the jetski needs gas. " But than thats what uncle Bob is for.
Perhaps I can get a part time job in Hannafords Paper or plastic? |
I'm doing my part!
Hey,with the price of gas rumered to hit $4 a gallon this summer, maybe my PWC with be looked at as a fuel mizer and not so much as the mosquito pest as has been the case in the past?Short of a blow boat or small 25 hp skiff, this baby gets way better mileage than most boats, similar to a car to motorcycle comparison.I can see the headlines now: "Environmentalists encourage boaters to switch to high milage PWC's"What a change that would be!
