Strange event off the Weirs
Hi all,
I noticed that the Marine Patrol had pulled over a pontoon boat about 1000' out from the Weirs on Saturday. They had 4 boats around this pontoon boat and seemed to be carrying boxes. It generally struck me as weird. Anyone know what this was all about? Jetskier |
I heard that the pontoon boat had hundreds of bootleg coppies of Destination Winnipesaukee DVD's and was planning to sell them at all of the sandbars around the lake:D

Coffee and donut run?

SS Creamer passing out free ice cream?

We passed that incident on Saturday afternoon on our jet skis while on our way out of Paugus Bay.
Marine Patrol had one gentleman handcuffed with arms behind his back and they were removing him from the pontoon. When we went to gas-up at Anchor Marine, the attendant told us the guy in the pontoon had pulled away from gas dock, and hit a Baja. Marine Patrol arrived to find the driver of pontoon intoxicated. |
MP log?
There is a police log published in the local papers. Is there a published log for the MP? It would be interesting to know what they are up to.

Lakegeezer:
If I recall someone posted during the HB162 debate that the Laconia paper was considering doing an Marine Patrol police log but it doesn't appear anything has come of it. I would doubt that the papers would do it, don't want to scare the tourist boaters off with stories of drunks in pontoons hitting Baja! :emb: I'm sure the folks at the chamber cringe when pics like the one on Eagle Island make the news! Just for chuckles I am trying to keep track of the accidents that happen this year as reported by the press. If you'd like I'll post them, with Don's approval! |

Nightwing: I'm not talking about a state agency publishing anything. Those logs, I believe, are public record and as such can be reviewed by anyone, including the police beat reporter (sometimes an interin) for the Laconia paper.
Most police departments I have dealt with in the past don't publish anything themselves, and are not partucularly happy when a reporter copies information from a police log, but they allow it because they have to. So what I am suggesting is that the Laconia paper (or other papers in the region) put the Marine Patrol on their list of public safety agencies to get logged information from and publish that information under the "Police Log" column. |
