I heard from a friend that went up there last year that there are spots that you can park your boat or camp over night. Are these true? If they are where are they located?
|
Do you mean at a hotel or something?

There may be others, but Paugus Bay Campground is the only campground that has boating access of which I am aware. The boating access is in Moultons Cove at the north end of Paugus Bay. Boat access requires navigation under a narrow, not-too-high, railroad bridge. If you mean sleeping on you boat, Fays boat yard has some mooring spots. Their fee includes a shuttle service to the mainland. |
If they camp at Ellacoya, they could launch at Ames, since it's just down the road a short distance.
Just a thought... Mapquest link of area: http://mapserver.maptech.com/homepag...latlontype=DMS |
Long Island Bridge Camping
There is a campground just north of Long Island Bridge, which is down Moultonboro Neck Road. Many of the lots have year-round campers on them, but there is a large area up the hill for transients. You can keep your trailered boat on your camp site, and then use the public (free) launch just south-east of the bridge. During the daytime, you can anchor your boat near the bridge and come ashore. There is no overnight anchoring that I am aware of.
