Meredith Yacht Club

Does anyone have an opinion or experience at Meredith Yacht Club? How does it compare to other sites?

Marie 03-27-2007 03:51 PM

Is there a reason no one replies?

SIKSUKR 03-29-2007 08:42 AM

I would guess it's because there are few members past or present on this forum.

A possible reason

What SIC said.
Where is Meredith Yacht Club? Is it the one near the town docks? Ive seen that one but do not know the name.

I know that some people would expect the Meredith Yacht Club to be in Meredith. Just as I would expect the Winter Harbor Yacht Club to be in Winter Harbor! Last time I went by the Winter Harbor Yacht Club it was miles away from any point of Winter Harbor.

On a positive note. So far there are NO negative posts about Meredith Yacht Club. Did you try using the forum search feature?

Good luck,

Location: Turn right at Mills Falls, go 1/4 mile, take a Right and it is right there. About 50-60 slips, walking distance to movie theater and shopes.

SIKSUKR 03-29-2007 02:50 PM

Your right Skipper. When coming into Meredith Bay by water,Meredith Marina is on your left before the town docks.

Ahhhhhh SIKSUKR ----

Me thinks you have the wrong location ---- Merideth Yacht Club ---Look right as you approach the Town Docks (by water).

Or is it me that has it backwards?

Marie 03-30-2007 03:36 PM

The Phantom is correct.

yacht club

We slipped there 1 season. People were friendly, but their length and width rules are strictly enforced. There was a small group not too friendly but overall if you follow the rules you will be fine.

SIKSUKR 04-02-2007 09:45 AM

OOH,So sorry.I guess I was refering to Merideth Marina.Nothing gets past the forum members!

...a model for marina management!

Isn't their clubhouse the waterfront cottage with the funky shingles. Isn't Meredith Marina the old home resting place for all the old aluminum 18' outboard boats powered by old Johnsons. Their parking lot is full up with Isuzu Amigo soft-tops and Ford Broncos from the early 90's. Time got stuck in 1991 down at the Meredith Marina.
Isn't that the place where one old Kelvinator refrigerator putt putts away, keeping its' beer cold. To keep all the beer drinkers honest, the Meredith Marina beer committee designates a specific brand to each individual member so everyone will know which beer belongs to whom. Talk about a well run marina!

Well Maria -- this is perhaps the first time in the years I've been lurkin this Forum that you didn't get a bombardment of input to a question.

Perhaps it means one of two things --- (1) you've uncovered a gem, and should keep it quiet ......... or (2) ---

well, you can guess what #2 was :)

Hi Marie!

I have experience at the Meredith Yacht Club. I have found it to be a very pleasant lot of folks, although I haven't been slipping there in the past 2 seasons. I thought that it had a great location, being within easy walking distance of Meredith, Mills Falls, etc. It's also a prime spot to watch the 4th of July fireworks displays. Not sure if it's a significant drawback, but the large no-wake zone in Meredith Bay entails quite a bit of sub-headway speed crawling.

I haven't had experience at other clubs on Winni, so I'm afraid I can't offer comparisons. If you're interested in finding a slip there, PM me and I can try to get you in touch with someone.

We ended up booking a slip there for the coming season. The ability to walk to so many things seemed to be worth it. Thanks for all the input.

Marie,

If you don't mind me asking (and it has been a few years since you posted), what did you think of your experience with the Meredith Yacht Club?

Marie hasn't posted since 2008--I wouldn't hold your breath for a response.
