Shore erosion
In this latest storm, I noticed that there was some erosion of my shorefront. About 1 foot by 20 feet erroded away. Am I allowed to repair the erosion and restore the frontage? Is a permit needed? If so, is the permitting process difficult or expensive?

I would call DES in Concord to find out an answer to that.

If you want to repair I would contact Ames Associates in Moultonborough. You will need a permit to repair any waterfront damage unless you have great neighbors.

Yes you do need approval from DES to repair the shoreline. Depending on the severity of the damage and potential for continued damage there may be alternatives available as to how approval is given. If there is a continued risk to the property it would be advisable to take photos and contact the Wetlands Bureau in Concord (603) 271-2147 with regards to getting the shoreline stabilized.

Shore Erosion
Although David Ames is very knowledgeable and extremely personable, I'm not sure Ames Associates is the right contact -- they are septic designers. Associated Surveyors in Meredith are land surveyors and they would be the ones to call -Call Carl Johnson or Harry Wood.
