Pontoon plane rides

Many years ago I took a pontoon plane ride while at the lake. They used to depart I believe near Laconia? So long ago I forget. I've since heard they no longer are there. Does anyone know where I can arrange for this? It was a blast! Thanks.:look:

Maybe this one is still there in Naples Maine on Long Lake. Used to be an old small pontoon plane for rides over nearby Sebago Lake.

I may be washed up, but wasn't there one in Paugus Bay just past what I believe is Christmas Motel or something like that. I remember going by and seeing the sign right on the side of the road with the plane right there also tied up to a dock. It would be on the right side coming from Waldo's. :)

There was one on Paugus Bay (across from the sporting goods store), but it ceased operations a few years ago. There was a place at the small airstrip in Moultonboro (corner of 109 by Bart's). Also, you can check with Emerson Aviation, http://www.emersonaviation.com/about_emerson.html

Seaplane Services on Paugus Bay is long gone. In 1996 they provided me with a long ride so I could take the aerial photos now located on PhotoPost. Those pictures were the 1st feature of the winnipesaukee.com site almost 11 years ago.

Here's their old sign and the seaplane:

The Wayback Machine archive has their Web page from 1996.

Thanks webmaster. I have no idea where the heck I have been for the past 11 years. Getting old and senile I guess. :)

I think 1996 was their last year. In 1997, I noticed they were not in business. I made a note to eliminate the seaplane landings in Paugus Bay from Bizer's 1998 chart.

They do still run rides outta Moultonborough airport, not sure of dates though. Was up in Naples a few summers ago and their sea plane was also running.

I used to treat my summer visitors to $20 seaplane rides over Lake Winnipesaukee ($10 each passenger). 'Seemed right to support an industry—and give spectacular views that visitors would always reminisce about.

General-Aviation aircraft manufacturers have been hammered by lawsuits—mostly by their providing "faulty aircraft instruments". Costs, mostly insurance costs, have rocketed as a result.

But it was the crunch of development that spelled the end of North Conway's White Mountain Airport and their scenic tours of this region. Seaplane tours from Wolfeboro's Lakes Region Airpark stopped around 2001 for the same reason.

They're still there in Naples, on Long Lake.

Sea Plane Rides from Paugus Bay

I also took a ride on the sea plane out of Paugus Bay years back. It was a blast. I remember there being 2 landing areas and two sea planes -- this is going back to the 1980's. There was a red Cessana that took off behind Laconia Ice and a dark Cessana that took off across from the sporting goods place on Route 3. I am quite sure it was the same company. I took my ride in the red plane and if memory serves me correctly, the pilot was from Pine Island. The route used to take passengers out over the big lake as far as the Forties and then turn back to Paugus Bay.

I don't know of any other places on the lake that offer sea plane rides, but I have taken a flight with Emerson Aviation over the lake and it was great. Because there are no pontoons, you get a better view of Winnipesaukee and the islands. It was spectacular.
