federal gas tax refund?

Is there a federal gas tax refund for 'joe consumer', similar in nature to the NH state refund? Or am I just being silly ..... :rolleye1:

Excellent question!

The Feds allow very few exceptions and are much more strict than the State of New Hampshire.

Short answer? No.

Go HERE to read the particular details from the applicable IRS website .

Hope this helped....

Skip, there is a federal refund for off road vehicles who use diesel. You are talking about gas, so that may be different.

Again, even with diesel the exceptions are extremely limited. There are no exemptions in either category of fuel for recreational use.

The form I linked (IRS 510) gives some very good examples in both categories of allowable and non allowable refunds.

Ah, recreational use must be the key. I know business use does get it. (I didn't read the link.)
