Nadia's Trattoria being Razed

Today's Laconia Sun reports Nadia's restaurant is being razed and a TD Banknorth will replace it. The owner is seeking a new and smaller location for her restaurant.

Laconia Sun consistently has news stories I think forum readers will enjoy. Today there is also coverage of hearings on proposed expansion of use at Shep Brown's. Download pdf of today's paper at www.laconiadailysun.com.

And no - I have no connection to the paper!

On a related note, anyone know what the plans are for the current Hannaford location after they move out?

have to refresh and restart my memory,
Hannafords is moving across the street correct near lowes?
what would be nice is a Boater's world or a West Marine or a Bass Pro Shops where the old Hannafords is

Sorry to possibly Hi-jack the thread

Maybe Nadia's Trattoria could get an el cheapo, off-season, winter-time lease in the Coe House in Center Harbor, and put that terrific location and beautifull building to work. It's a working restaurant and it is now closed till spring, some time. Hey, how's this sound? A nice Italian high-quality ristorante in the main level, and downstairs in the lounge, a pizza-sub, beer-by-the pitcher spot called NADIA's Downstairs. Do people like pizza and beer in the winter? Better than a closed, locked up building!

That will be 4% of the lease for this suggestion...thankyou!

....from a restaurant to a ristorante...excellent Italian food...at prices that are a lot LESS than $150./two.

So, what the heck good is a restaurant with polished brass, walnut, & antique period furniture if it doesn't get enuf draw to keep its' doors open all year?

Right now, the Coe House is basically a white elephant, and a Nadia's could change it into a green, black, & orange donkey, or something!

Centre Harbor could be a totally Italian type of a place........capiche!

..

Wasn't Wal-Mart moving into Hannafords as there is more square footage there?

I'm not sure of the closing date, but yes they have been/still are open. Go quickly!

jniff101 02-27-2008 01:55 PM

I'm confused!
There is a hannaford going in Meredith as we speek! So they are also building a super hannafords in gilford? Across the street, there's no room. Oh and I totaly agree with a christmas tree shop!! But that just means more traffic around here. The one in north conway opened up in January, I guess that's close enough for me. I think an Olive Garden or a Red Lobster would be nice, haven't seen one of those in a while.

InTilton, where Wall Mart is now will become a Sam's Club and a Super Walmart will be built down on Rt 140 near Keyspan. Also coming to Tilton is a Lowe's and a Best Buy.

McDude..just to set the record straight, that was Drummer Boy's quote, not pmj's. I know because pmj (me) doesn't have a wife :emb: I have a hubby, though, who could care less about a Christmas Tree shop.
I think what happened was that I responded to Drummer boyy's post and didn't know how to wrap the quote, thus it looked like I said it. oops

SteveA 03-01-2008 06:39 PM

I'm still confused

Lowes is already in Tilton... where are they going to build a Sams?

fatlazyless 03-01-2008 09:06 PM

For Tilton, the story I heard about a year ago was that the existing Tilton Wal-Mart will become a Sam's Club. A new Super Wal-Mart will be built on nearby Route 132, close to HK Powersports and KeySpan Energy. Any yes, Tilton already has a Lowe's next to Kohl's and up behind MB Tractor.

So, where are all the customers going to come from? I'm in the Gilford Lowe's on a regular basis for their excellent free hot chocolate, and the store is as dead as a doorknob!

Hey, anyone in the Gilford area: Stop into the Gilford Lowe's and have a free hot chocolate on me! Suggest you bring your own cup unless you like white styrafoam.:D

Yes, but she's not at the Gilford store anymore. She now works at the Lowe's in Rochester.

LOOKS LIKE PURE SPECULATION - rumors.

I don't think the Gilford planning board has seen plans for Hannafords on same site next to Lowes! YES, it's public information Hannafords building in Meredith on site next to movie theatre.

Confusion: no wonder. Sam's is owned by Wall-Mart's owner, the late Sam Walton's heirs; so it makes sense that they shuffle around. Sam's is wearhouse type, so I'd sooner think the build from scratch, and not take over a retail.
