Little Bear Markers

In the past week, new markers, orange lighted "buttons" and white "buttons," have appeared off of eastern Long Island just across from the north end of Little Bear Island. What are these?

I just read in the Laker that they are replacing all the markers on the lake. The ones are supposed to handle the winters ice better than the old wood ones and the lighted ones are supposed to be brighter. These new makers by Little Bear and Long Island must be some of the first to be switched to the new system.

At first I thought you were talking about the new (Last year or so) "lighted" markers, but it doesn't really sound like them.

The new markers (both lighted and unlighted) are made of plastic - instead of the old wooden kind. These have been in use all over the lake for at least a year. Somehow, what you saw sounds different.

Could you describe them more?

Markers

I believe the ones in question are the markers at the Moring Field over on Long Island near Point Sarah. It marks a designated Moring Field for an association.
