Another Roof Collapse?
Hey All -- was watching the Fox News last night and there was a 15 second blurb about another roof collaping in Laconia??
As I was only half listening to the TV at the time, I missed the details ...... something about an older building under renovations as a Condo? The quick video looked as though the building was on the waterfront (what water unknown). Anyone shed more light on where / what it is ? |

Nobody was hurt or injured... former Allen-Rogers manufactoring warehouse type building (another deceased NH factory)....being reconstructed into a restaurant....behind the big factory building being condo-maximized....and on the Winnipesaukee River in Laconia...www.cmonitor.com March 6

Collapse Building
I took a drive by the Irwin Building and the Weirs Building last weekend. The Irwin Building was ropped off and they would not allow you to get to close. The Weirs building is caution taped off. You can get real close to that one as it sits right in the road. It looks like the sides buckled. The most recent Laconia building was closer to down town near the rt 106/rt 3 intesection.

with all the heavy snow...there have been eight roof cave-ins in Meredith. Mostly all accessory buildings like garages. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but it is possible that some camps may have caved in, too. Due to their less structually sound construction, it's a possibility.
I do not wish a roof cave-in on anyone. Dealing with that mess out on an island is no picnic. |
2 neighbors at the lake had roofs damaged in the last 2 weeks due to snow and ice, 1 totally caved in. Has there been any melt off, with todays warm weather?
|
There's been a lot of melt off but people who haven't shoveled may be getting a lot of rainwater in the already existing weight on their roof. I think we'll see a few more go.

Heavy rain last night would be absorbed by snow sitting on roofs.
Potentially adding lots of weight! |
