Trolling and lure pattern or colors.

Hello. My question for discussion is how do you choose lure colors and patterns when trolling for Salmon and Lake Trout, etc. based on the weather ie. bright, sunny, cloudy, windy, rainy? The reason I am asking is that I have recently been able to make more long distant trips to Winni, and in the old days (20 years ago) it was fairly basic, flourescent mooselooks and sutton 61's. Now I walk into AJ's to find countless possibilities and my wallet just can't handle purchasing one of each. Curious?
