Blueberries

Does anyone know if the Blueberries have ripened on Mt. major or any other wild :liplick:location that would be open to picking.

While I don't have first hand knowledge for this year, normal blueberry season start time is two or three weeks away. The season normally runs late July into August.

There is still strawberry picking; we were at Smith's in Gilford earlier this week. The makings for dinner that night: a bowl of just picked ripe strawberries sliced with a little sugar, a batch of home made biscuits and a bowl of just whipped heavy cream.:liplick:

two weeks for BBs

The green berries are on now. In two weeks they should be ready to pick. We should have a good year with all of the rain we have had.:liplick:

on their way

We've been up there several times and at the end of last week some were actually ripe but most were still green. I was surprised to see the ripe ones so early. Surely not enough yet to make a pie.

oodles

with the rain we've had this year they're coming in early.
Mountain tops are loaded in a lot of areas- stick to places with designated trails like Major if you don't know your way around though. :liplick:

Bumper Blueberry Crop Reported....see LINK

Quote:

Blueberry season has arrived in the region a little earlier this summer, thanks to a perfect combination of rain and hot weather.

Even some longtime blueberry growers are somewhat surprised at how ripe and bountiful this year's blueberry crop is turning out to be.

"It is a good crop. We're usually one of the earliest as far as blueberries go," said Anne Lake, owner of Berrybogg Farm in Strafford. "For us, it's pretty much right on time."

Great Pickins in Gilford

We went to Stonybrook Farm, 128 Glidden Rd. in Gilford today. (off 11A a couple of miles after the entrance to Gunstock)

Great High Bush Blueberries. $2.25 per pint. Big and Juicy. :) Nice spot and a place to remember when apple season comes around.

Blueberries

Blueberries seem to be early this year at our camp. We picked 3 quarts last weekend and still have more to go. There are also still many green ones. Looks like it will definitely be a bumper crop! Bring on the pancakes, buckle and pies!!
