CNN - Severe Weather
 

CNN just had the NH Emergency Management Dept. head on and he mentioned severe weather with possible tornadoes from Epsom through Wolfeboro. Any updates on conditions through the Tuftonboro area? Power outages etc?

Just got off the phone with Tuftonboro. Power was still on and it seemed like the worst of it had passed. He was surprised to see the pictures of Wolfeboro on the news.

Strong Storms
 

There are reports of one or more tornadoes or other strong storms that hit the Epsom/Deerfield area shortly before noon today and then moved up through Pittsfield, Barnstead, Alton, New Durham, Wolfeboro, Wakefield and Ossipee. Some of those areas incurred serious damage such as downed trees and power lines and structure damage. In our area in West Alton we had no damage at all, just heavy rain. The storm damage did result in our power being off from around noon until shortly after 3:00 PM. Rt. 28 in south Alton near Stockbridge Corner Rd. is still closed due to the storm damage.

Lots of damage at Merrymeeting Lake in New Durham as well.

Gal and I were driving up 28 today and were about 15 minutes behind the storm. After taking a detour around the closed section of 28, we saw the war zone in Barnstead or Alton and were so shocked we did not think to grab the camera. The damage was incredibly localized. Not the overall damage you see with high winds but huge trees snapped in half and then 100 yards later not even leaves and branches in the street.
