Mason needed
Can anyone recommend a good mason to repoint a chimney and fix a chimney cap in the Tuftonboro area?
Thanks, |

I've seen amazing work by Natt King Stoneworks
http://www.nattkingstoneworks.com/ He's in Moultonborough. |

That is quite a web site. I'll give them a call but my guess is they won't be that interested in a small project. Then again you never know. Does anyone else have a recommendation? |
Roger Champagne is the best

similar job
Two years ago, I had a small chimney project done (repointing, flashing, cricket install to stop leaking) very satisfactorily by Stephen Peoples of Heritage Enterprises out of Center Harbor. His phone number is 603-253-4557. I have had no other need for this kind of work since, so I do not know if he is still around or still in business

nice job
Tom Macormack really good and very reasonable 630-2473 he's been around for years and he goes anywhere around the lake

Has anyone dealt with Frank Mansfield of Wolfeboro Masonry? A recommendation would be appreciated.

mason
Sorry, Tim. I had negative experience with Tom McCormack so cannot recommend him.

Sorry GB, Have to say I have had Tom do work, and have been pleased with outcome as well as pricing. If unlimited budget. Kings Stonework. There is more than one, they are all family and all very good...

mason
I would call Jim Houston. He is in Moultonboro/sandwich area.

What's a typical repointing cost? Yeah, yeah, I know kind of like asking what does a new car cost? Lets just say a "typical" sized chimney on a two story home. I'm making calls this week at home in mass to have this done. Any kind of ball park figures I'm looking at would be appreciated.

i can give you two data points
Nine years ago, Hurricane Floyd dropped a tree on my roof which wiped out the chimney. Jim Houston came (by the way, his work was excellent, but he had a big backlog and I had to wait 6 months to get him to do my job) and rebuilt the chimney from the the firebox up. This was $1600. Two years ago, on a different house, I had a cricket built (which included about 10 sqft of reshingling the roof) and about 4 ft of the chimney repointed. This was $600.
For labor-type jobs (there isn't much in the way of materials needed to repoint a chimney), figure on about $400-500/day. If your chimney can be repaired in a single day - then I would guess your bill will be in this area. |
Sounds good, thank Tom.

Jim Huston excellent work
Natt King excellent work Bill randall lives down off of 109a and is very good that's who I would call living in Tuftonboro for the job you described |
