Italian Restaurant Suggestions
I see that The North End in Moultonborough has closed for the winter and will reopen in May. I am looking for some recommendations of other good Italian Restaurants in the area to go to until the Spring? :liplick:

Try Abondante in Meredith
Lago (also in Meredith) is also pretty good, as is Fratellos in Laconia.
|
Rossi's......rt 104 and 93
|
Abondante in Meredith - the best.
|
The Italian Farmhouse in Plymouth, supposed to be very good.

depends on whether you are looking for Northern or Southern Italian food. Abondante is more northern( at least when we went there a couple of years ago) while rossi's is more southern .

Thanks for all of the suggestions! It looks like we'll be kept quite busy checking out all of these great options!

Not exactly in the LR but they deserve a good plug...
Don't shoot me for saying this... and it's not exactly in the Lakes Region...
But you gotta try Dominick's in Chichester on Route 28. It's right after the Pittsfield/Chichester line. The food is authentic, the pizza has a rustic, chewy crust, and the desserts are to die for. No joke. And the owners are awesome! Just a great place to go for a nice time out and never a disappointment. Hubby gets the Italian sampler - it's not a little of everything - it's A LOT of everything and he usually gets at least two meals out of it. I always order the mussels appetizer for my meal - they come with olive oil, lemon, fresh basil and tomato, parm cheese and bread for dipping in the juice. |
Wednesday is Italian Day at Buckeys I believe. I have never been there but I am hauling my boat tomorrow in Moultonboro and pass them on the way home so I will post what I see/eat. Be forewarned, it may be fried clams if they have them.:)

Buckey's Wednesdays
Buckey's does run Italian specials on Wednesdays. Specials include Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chicken Parmigiana, Sausage Cacciatore, and Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo. All specials are prepared fresh the day of with classic Italian flavors. The manager tells me that the restaurant usually has pasta on hand, so if your craving something Italian on another day, don't be afraid to ask your server what might be available!

What gives....

Gotta ask ya, Lucknow...what's the story? A quick review of your 8 posts tells us Buckey's is 1. a great place for Italian...2. is a great place to watch the Pats...3.serves better steaks tips than Dillengers...4. is the best restaurant in the northern part of the lake...5. has a new chef that is going to enhance our experiences there... 6. has a full liquor liscense...7. In this post you just want to know what is being built behind Buckey's. 8. I forget. No big deal...maybe you just love the place. But I believe a review is not altogether impartial when the writer probably is somehow connected to the place....just my opinion. If I am wrong, and you are just a very happy customer, please accept my apology in advance. |
yes.....
Somehow, there seems like a connection, I agree... :)

Buckey's is good!
Whether it appears as though Lucknow98 has a connection or not, Buckey's is good. So many other restaurants have failed at that location in the past, yet Buckey's seems to thrive. Their parking lot is always full and their food is very good. It's open year round, which is also a plus for those of us who also live here year round. I have never gotten a meal I didn't like there. My daughter can't go in there without getting the chowder and the ribs are excellent. Long live Buckey's :D

I was hoping to get there on the 15th after I hauled my boat for the year but we went via rte 25 instead. I will get to try it before long.
|
No question in my mind - Rossi's in New Hampton. Owner, Margo runs the kitchen and patrols the dining room. We don't even look at the menu. We just listen to the specials and order one of the selections. If I recall correctly they are open evening from Wednesday through Sunday.

I don't know all the restaurants spoken about but I did go to the Italian Farmhouse this summer. We found the food and atmosphere to be excellent. The appetizers were very good especially the calamari and the entrees were all excellent
Yes this is my 1st post and no I am not related to any one at this particular restaurant or any restaurant for that matter. By the way I really enjoy this forum. Very lively and informative |
I don't have a problem with owners....

Lucknow and Beer/Estate
Lucknow is also the given name of Plant's estate, known to us as the Castle in the Clouds. I visited the brewery when it was in full operation, and sampled their various varieties of beer. I believe that Heath's carried Lucknow beer. A real novelty!
