If weather does not change soon my home will have a 4 sale sign out front!!

If weather does not change soon my home will have a 4 sale sign out front!! I have had enough of these cool windy days. It's summer. Has someone forgot to tell mother nature?? I have been very very very patient!! I keep telling myself, oh next weekend will be better. Is obvious things are not changing. It's a bad sign when your children are not even going in the water. The 4th weekend is usually known for hot & humid temps. I want sweltering, hot, humid as can be temps. I want to be forced to stay in the lake, PERIOD!! And if I do not get this kind of weather soon, just drive down Old Hubbard Rd and look for the 4 sale sign!!

wolfegirl 06-28-2004 08:46 PM

Blame it on Global Warming

what you thought it meant the world was getting warmer? no. only in some parts, not on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Hey! Hey! Hey! ... have some compassion for those of us with 1.5 acres of grass on a steep slope that needs to be cut every three days. This weather has been heaven. I did a massive grass cut today and never broke a sweat.

Sure, as a result our tomato and pepper plants are being dwarfed by crab grass, but I can buy those at Beans & Greens.

Porch Potato 06-28-2004 10:16 PM

We keep looking at the water temperatures and shaking our heads. We are leaving Chicago behind next week and headed for the lake with another family. All the kids are really looking forward to swimming and not much else! Not that we want Scott to suffer, but come on summer :)

jrc 06-29-2004 08:34 AM

68 degrees

68 degrees is like bath water  I went swimming Sunday at a sand bar, it was a little chilly but fine once you get used to it. Mostly all the kids were in the water but the adults just watched. 70 is usually my comfort limit but once the sun get hot the water is very inviting.

Is that little lake near Chicago any warmer?

Chris Exley 06-29-2004 08:40 AM

Here's hoping the weather stays cool

The last 3 years we have had our vacation at the lake, it has been in the middle of record setting heat waves. Which is fine when you stay in the water to cool down, but you have to go into the cottage to sleep. A cottage with no air conditioning and no air moving just ain't fun or comfortable to be in.

Please God, keep it cool.

cabinfever 06-29-2004 08:57 AM

I'm relieved to hear all of this....

I'm so relieved to hear lakers complaining about the weather because I was beginning to think it was windy and cool just around our new island home out in the big part of the lake. We bought the exposed island spot in May and we were starting to get extremely nervous that this was what the middle of the lake was like as a standard!!

TICTOC 06-29-2004 10:00 AM

I'll swap with you any day.

Here in Mesa Arizona, it's 106 to 107 every day at this time of year and that's considered a bit below normal. Starting the second week in July thru September we begin our monsoon season, thunderstorms, hail, lightning and horrendous wind, at that time, we sometimes go below 100. I'd give anything to be back up on Winni, I've been here 15 years and miss every summer of being on the lake.

Fancy 06-29-2004 10:54 AM

I am ready for the hot and humid weather!!! I don't even care how big my hair gets!!!! Enough of this cool, windy, wet weather already!!

KBoater 06-29-2004 11:01 AM

Reading Books

So how many books have you read this season? The weather has been great for sitting by the fire, watching the birds and waves, and catching up on my reading.

Can't possibly be cool

Can't possibly be the case. Global warming and all. The low temps are a figment of you imagination. ;)

I thought it was nice in The Weirs on Sunday.

Hot enough here

It is for sure hot enough here in Florida. This past week we had heat indexes of over 100*. My son was here from Meredith and had to drive an un-airconditioned truck back up to the Lakes Region. I think he got a touch of heat stroke on the trip, as he checked himself into a hospital in Tennessee. He's okay, but today back to work outside on Belknap Mt. and he said he was freezing. Give me this weather here, but with your lake. The Springs here are great, though. Constant water temp of 72* Hope it warms up for you by the 4th. Stay safe, all.

phoenix 06-29-2004 04:41 PM

in Phoenix today and it is 105 but will be in new Hampshire over the 4th and hope for 80 and sunny . not too hot

KBoater 06-29-2004 04:57 PM

Nights Cool

The nights have een in the 50's every night recently. As soon as the sunset starts to set it gets cool. It's good sleeping weather. Today the max. temp. at my house was 73. Tomorrow should be better.

Lin 06-29-2004 06:30 PM

pretty "cool" photo RI swamp yankee. Plenty of places to put the blankets. We got up to the lake friday night just the minute it started to downpour. What a bunch of faces my family had on them! Then when it did clear Sat we got that beauty of a sunset but we also had that wind that roared on through! bringing the cold front. Hope it's better this weekend!!

Lin 06-29-2004 06:32 PM

Phoenix, I called a friend of mine from there Sat nite. Those are the temps she said were going on!! She asked if we could send cold front her way, I asked for some heat! She couldn't believe me when I said we were in the 50's.

RLW 06-29-2004 07:18 PM

Great out door working weather here

The weather here in Metrowest MA is just fantastic for a working man outside. Hope some comes with us this weekend to the big lake as lots of outside work to be done up there. :liplick:

Cal 06-29-2004 07:33 PM

Weather is Great

We were on the Lake today and I must say it was not as warm as you might want but we had a great day. :D We went a lot of places around the lake and saw a few swimming and one dog out for a swim in Peggy's Cove. Low wind made it wonderful for cruising.

It did get cloudy around 4 but the sun returned by 5:30. We went back to Gilford about 7:00.

We posted a few pic in the Photo Post from our wanderings.

Just Wonderin 06-30-2004 07:43 AM

Forget the heat, just stop the wind!

We're on an island, and travelling back and forth in that nice lake "chop" is getting very old. I hate to talk all the doom and gloom, but historically, if it isn't warm yet, it probably won't become warm. This will just go down in the books as a cool, windy summer.

Don't worry "cabinfever" this is NOT what you should expect every year. The wind is usually present in the early spring, and then again in the late fall, but not EVERY DAY!

It just isn't fair. We had to deal with one of the coldest winters I can remember (in New Hampshire) The only thing that got me through it was to keep thinking how wonderful and warm we would be in the summer.

BOY WAS I MISLEAD!

meredith necker 06-30-2004 08:54 AM

The weather is great!!!!We can mow, garden, paint, etc without heat prostration. . .It is 1000% better then ice and snow. The wind means no bugs! I'll take this anyday!

Belmont Resident 07-01-2004 05:50 AM

wind

All in all I enjoy the benefits of the wind/breeze.
Less boaters venturing out as early which means I don’t have to deal with as many inexperienced boaters.
Less congestions at the spots I like to hang out at. Less traffic on the way back to the dock at the end of the day.
Once out of the wind the breeze that does manage to get through into the protected cove feels good.
Although I do admit getting to where I’m going can be a challenge depending on the direction of travel verses the direction of the wind.

WakeboardMom 07-01-2004 03:07 PM

I would like it a little bit warmer when I'm at the Lake. It's over 80 here today in southern NH, and I'm looking forward to some of that heat working it's way toward Moultonborough. I've had enough of the windy days the past few weekends, as have my kids and their attempts to venture out in the ski boat! :coolsm:

ITD 07-01-2004 06:46 PM

If you don't like the weather........

............ wait a minute. Today it was at least 85 with full sun. Tonight short thunderstorm came through. And another is coming. We're in New England people, be patient, you'll get the weather you want, although probably not for long.

phoenix 07-06-2004 04:36 PM

back in Phoenix today and the weather is 107. great weekend in Winni except Monday . 80 and delightful . went to tamerack and saw the saying New Hampshire one floor below heaven and it is true. Will be back in two weeks

Old Hubbard Rd 07-06-2004 05:45 PM

I think I've changed my mind:)

After this past Sat & Sun PM I think I'll not sell my home. So please do not look for that "for sale" just yet.

Merrymeeting 07-13-2004 04:37 PM

I'm not ready to sell....

but Rose, any chance we are ever going to breat out of this mid-70's, windy weather pattern and have an honest to goodness heat wave this summer?

Please??!!!!!!!

Weather, Schmeather

Mark Twain on weather...

"Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it."

"It is best to read the weather forecasts before we pray for rain."

"In India, "cold weather" is merely a conventional phrase and has come into use through the necessity of having some way to distinguish between weather which will melt a brass door-knob and weather which will only make it mushy."

"Climate is what we expect, weather is what we get."

Bottom line: The only sure thing about the weather is that there will be plenty of it.

Old Hubbard Rd 07-15-2004 07:15 AM

4th July weather was just a tease!!

Well maybe that one nice weekend weather was just a plain TEASE!! Maybe the "for sale" will go up if this terrible weather continues!!

SAMIAM 07-15-2004 07:59 AM

Love'n it

Being in the restaurant business,we are just loving the cooler weather. Our kitchen stays nice and cool, the refrigeration runs beautifully......and the rainy weather washes out the bar-b-ques and we're BUSY.......also,nobody calls in sick because there's nothing to do. :liplick:

Rose 07-15-2004 09:29 AM

Sorry, no can do

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I was feeling under the weather  Sorry, that was bad. I'm still not in my right mind, but some would say I never was. ;)

I took a quick peak into the medium to long-range charts, and I'm not seeing a heatwave in the next 10 days....sorry. :(

Porch Potato 07-15-2004 10:14 AM

Well, we are back here in the Chicago area after being up at the lake last week. It appears that last week was not too bad compared to this week's weather.

We just heard this little (depressing) weather note from our favorite Chicago weatherman, Tom Skilling - out of the past 134 summers, this is the 44th coolest. And the prediction is 2-1 that it will continue as such for the rest of the summer. The bummer is that our weather tends to head east :(

Merrymeeting 07-21-2004 06:38 AM

Finally!!!

Finally seemed like July yesterday! The rest of the week looks good too! I guess I'll stay awhile longer....:coolsm:

Old Hubbard Rd 07-22-2004 07:05 AM

Don't go hogging all the nice weather!!

Don't go hogging all the nice weather, save some for those who can only come up on the weekend!!

Rose 07-22-2004 09:01 AM

Just in case you don't have good weather this weekend, you can blame the jet stream. Finally, someone comes up with something to blame other than we poor, put-upon meteorologists. ;)

jet stream

weekender 07-22-2004 08:44 PM

weekender

Well it looks like you finally got your wish, the 3 H's are here...hazy, hot, and humid. Let's hope it stays like this through Labor Day!
