Slip rental for 2009
 

Does anyone know what the going rate for slip rental (36x13)in the gilford area

I paid $2500 and $3300 for mine this year (2 slips). Both are comparable size. There are still people asking stupid money, if you are in the market just shop around and don't be afraid to make offers.

We just got out bill for 2009 Valet service....April '09 to April '10, including winterizing for next year....$3000 for a 24' boat.
Attached was a note explaining that their waiting list was quite extensive, so please, PAY NOW, as we need to move our waiting list along.
Maybe, but, hhhhmmmmmmmm.........

There is definitely a downward trend in prices. Some owners are trying to get the same prices through inertia. But there is more supply this year.

The size of your boat in that 36ft slip can make the deal seem better or worse, if you have 36' boat in a 36 foot slip then the deal will seem sweeter than if you are putting a 28 foot boat in that 36' slip. The best thing you can do is find a slip that fits your boat size so you are not paying extra for a slip that is too big for your boat, and yes you should be able to find some sweet deals out there.

Don't believe them...There are a BUNCH of slips to be had everywhere. Just check the classifieds on this site and you can see a bunch available. Some even say "make an offer"!! I found a covered one at Fays without a problem a couple weeks ago.

When I brought in my 2009 contract to Fay's about 2 weeks ago, there was a "slips available" sign on the door. First time I have ever seen such a notice at Fay's.

You can reduce your costs this year by switching to a new spot. Another marina in the case of places like Shep's or WAM, or maybe just another slip in some of the condo places like MVYC and Spinaker. But for some people, being in the same spot with the same friends nearby is worth a little extra.

It may make sense to approach your current landlord for a discount before putting deposit down on a new spot. Of course some slip owners still think they can get whatever they want, so you may have to make a move to get the best prices.

I had a discussion with my "landlord" last fall and he knocked $800 off the price. The second was a bargain at $2500 so I left it alone. We really like where we are so I had no interest in leaving the club. Different slips inside would have been fine. I am seeing the same people that sat vacant for most if not all of last year advertising again, they still just dont get it...
