Boat Registration Fees

The NH budget could end up with a doubling of the boat registration fee.

From WMUR's web site:
"Some items that did make it in to the budget plan include doubling registration fees for boats, a 45-cent per pack increase in the cigarette tax and an additional $30 in fees for vehicle registrations."

...but no increase for kayaks, canoes, rowboats, water tricycles, peddle boats, pontoon bicycles, rubber duckies, or sailboats under 12'......which means they continue to pay no fee....that makes sense....best not to be charging human power....and just charge motor power....ie boats with engines and sailboats 12' and longer will pay more...

That will probably make for less motor boats on the water, and more of the small, human powered boats, like kayaks. It's a kayak world.........:D!

If President Obama had a boat on Lake Winnipesaukee, it would be a larger than life, checkered, wavy purple & yellow, 49' Fountain with three 650hp engines........:D!

But it would only be able to turn to the left.

And it would be made by Chrysler or GM

Fountain's three 650hp engines probably start out as GM, and then get mayonnaised into MerCruisers......

With the new NH registration rates, only the White House could afford to register a 49' - 1950hp boat here!

Latest on registration fees....

Latest out of Concord last night:

Boat registration fees to double and an increase in the Room & Meals tax from 8% to 9%, with the exemption for campgrounds to be eliminated.

Full House votes on these latest recommendations next week....
