Jets over the lake today.

Anyone hear the fighter jets buzzing around over the lake today. From around 4-6 I could hear them but the overcast stopped any viewing. Apparently running a drill with the NH civil air patrol.

WMUR had a Facebook post about that - it was MA Air Guard doing drills. Why they were doing in NH airspace is anyone's guess....

I believe it has to do with the mountains. The A-10's that run drills in the Plymouth area fly out of Fort Drum in NY. They fly over my office in formation on the way home.

It's the MA branch of the Air National Guard, not just the MA Guard. I didn't think NH had it's own restricted air space. ;)

Oh, spank me. So, I left the word "National" out of my post. :D

...and I didn't say NH had it's own air space - just wondering the reason for the drill....

I have no problem with MA being in our airspace as long as they remember to use their blinkers, pay at the toll booths, and yield at traffic circles....

They were F-15C's out of MA...practicing an air to air intercept of a civilian aircraft entering restricted airspace.

There was an article in the Concord Monitor.

PS: Gotta love the Eagles....

I love the Raptors and A-10's too but the Blackbird is my all-time favorite! Nice picture, Woodsy! :)

And stay out of the left lane when not passing.

Airspace

The White mountain area of NH are designated as Yankee 1 AND 2 MOA (Military operating area). This Airspace has been designated as a practice area for various branches of the military. (yeah I am a nerd helo pilot)

rander7823 10-19-2009 02:15 PM

Wouldn't they get dizzy

If the MA Air National Guard had to stay in MA airspace at 500MPH would they get dizzy...even flying the state lengthwise would seem like they were at Loudon making nothing but left turns every 5 minutes:laugh:

Actually it was a dry run for the planned takeover of NH by Massachusetts. The foot soldiers are already in place and have been wreaking havoc in local government. The live free or die motto will be changed to Massachusetts, love it or leave it. Resistance is futile. :)

It was the F-15 fighters (MA Air National Guard) out of Barnes Airport in Westfield, MA. They were running a practice intercept drills using Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182's as the practice targets.

They were not using the Yankee MOA's, those are more to the north than where these operations were centered.

There is military airspace all over the northeast (including NH). The airspace they were using that day is not a published MOA on any aeronautical chart. It was an ATCAA (Air Traffic Control Assigned Airspace). They may be using that airspace again in the coming weeks. You can plan on seeing morning and afternoon exercises on those days.

FYI: someone from FOX News was in one of those F-15’s that day.

Saw an F-15 doing loop-the-loops about 500' above Timber Island, with back seater Sean Hannity all green faced and covered with vomit.

I hope they fly better than the mass people drive!

Rattlesnake Guy 10-21-2009 07:35 PM

Where does the National Guard fly their F-15 fighters?

Anywhere they want...:D
