Question on local supermarket pre-made holiday dinners
Has anyone out here used either Shaw's, Makert Basket, or Hannafords pre-made ham or turkey dinners that they sell on Thanksgiving & Christmas ? I have a lot of folks coming over this year. and I just can't do all the cooking.
And the big question is: what supermarket makes the best dinner in your opinion ? Lol, I have 3 choices: Shaw's, Market Basket, and Hannoford. Choices, choices:) Thanks in advance. |
My 2c say Market Basket. I've never had their turkey dinner but I can vouch for their chicken. If they do the turkey as well, you can't go wrong. Well done (as in good food), with just a little spice & seasoning to help it along.
Good luck |
Hannaford
I don't remember why I ever tried Hannaford's turkey dinner, but I tried it last year and it was good! (Better than I had hoped!) I would add a few dishes, though, for company. A salad, fresh veggies, etc. They had good potatoes, squash, gravy and stuffing, but it didn't ring "fresh food" to me.

Check out Harts
I'm pretty sure Harts will set you up with a turkey with all the fixins. I know a few years back my wife got one there, right around Christmas time. Pretty damn good! Hey, what the heck, it's pretty much all they do. We eat turkey all year round. As a matter of fact I have about 6 in the freezer. Took advantage of the .49 a pound at hannafords a few weeks back.

We tried the Market Basket one a few years ago and have been doing the turkey dinner ever since. Think it's like $54 bucks. Fed 6 adults and 2 children with a lot to spare for leftovers.

Thanks everyone:) We picked Market Basket. Shaws, believe it or not, sells 2 different turkey dinners: one with little more than a turkey for $60 & one with a little more extras than MB, but they want $80 !!! Hannaford had a cut-off date for ordering last week, and were rude on the phone when I called. For pete's sake.......don't yell at a customer because they don't know about your ordering dates:(

A bucket of KFC would be much cheaper....

The dinner was better than I expected. Since it was all pre-cooked it took less than an 1:45 to serve. I added some maple syrup, honey, and spices to the squash, and some nuts & rasins to the stuffing and I was good to go.
Better quality than I thought.......I would do this again:) |
Loved the video,I can see that happening at Nan King.
