Goodhue & Hawkins Laker
 

Does anyone know if G&H is the only boat builder that made Lakers or was this a style of boat made by other builders? Is anyone building replicas, are there plans available for them or are there any out there on the antique market?

I believe the Laconia Car Company built Lakers back in the 20's. They were built about where Lakeport Landing Marina is today.

"Lakers" were a Style of boat built in the early 20th Century. They were also sometimes called "Long Deck Launches". They were "displacement" hulls so were long and narrow so they could slip through the water with modest power. At the time, marine engines were low powered and very heavy.

"Planing" hulls were not yet invented, as they had to wait for more powerful and lightweight engines to appear on the scene. NB
