Questions

1) How would it react with weekend monster wake? My impression is that it would bang up the pontoons quite a bit since the boat is still floating. 2) How is it installed without a dock piece...

Storm-water runoff is problem #1

Watershed research led by the Lake Winnipesaukee Association shows that big storms are the big problem. The damage is done in only 5-6 events a year, when gully-washers act like Mother Nature...

Spectrum Internet only for $55/month

After quitting Spectrum TV, I told them that I'd switch to Fidium if they didn't lower my internet costs. They gave me a $55/month promo price for 300/10, which they will likely renew after the...

Worth the visit

I've been there twice and will go back again. It is good place to relax for an hour, with comfortable tables and couches. Many teas, and you can blend your own drink. Interesting soups and crepes.

some winter thoughts

Here are some winter items to check out.

Confirm if the current owners or the HOA have conducted recent surveys. Snow may obscure lot boundaries or important markers.

Ask neighbors about...

Wakeboat Study

With NH legislature uninterested in doing something about wakeboat impact on water quality, rather than start a new thread, I'm posting a link to a recent study that strongly indicates that wakeboats...

Ice In?

Moultonboro Bay seems pretty well iced in. Much of it happened Sunday night and Monday, but the new snow on top reveals very few wet spots. Several folks were skating on the ice yesterday, before...

Loons and Ice-in

Late or no ice-in is becoming a thing for the loons. Last year, perhaps for the first time, some of Winni's loons spent the winter here, rather than migrating to the ocean. This change in behavior...

Without Spectrum, you have to find another streaming service if you want local TV channels live. Even so, in Carroll County, there may be a problem getting channel 9 out of Manchester. I've...

DST all the way

If we’re going to mess with time, let’s go all-in on DST year-round. I’m fine with the sun dragging its feet until 7:30 AM around the Winter Solstice if it means we get those beautiful 9 PM summer...

Back up at 4:30 (10/15)

Fidium came back up around 4:30PM. It took two reboots of the modem and my router too before bits started flowing again but it has been stable since. That's over 16 hours of downtime. That gives...

Fidium outage details

Service went out about 00:10AM. Still out at 13:00. Given the size of outage and cell service down here and there, likely a fiber trunk outage. This is the first bad mark on Fidium and the length...

Ookla is the speedtest.net company, Ooma is the phone service. When doing speed tests, best results will be done directly at the modem or router. Also consider, many routers max out at 600-800...

Fiber everywhere

Hub66 also runs fiber, but most of its business is fixed wireless. In M'boro, a few years ago, Hub66 dug a trench into a no-pole neighborhood that couldn't get cable. They lease the trunk fiber,...

Nothing gets done without a plan

This might be true in some cases but there are recent examples where the process worked. For example, in the M'boro Bay sub-watershed, about $40K was spent on the study - which identified the...

Only a few NH Drone laws - Live free and fly

First, if you damage or steal a drone, the drone's owner can probably get the local police to investigate and maybe involve the NTSB. It is a felony to interfere with the flight of an aircraft. On...

Graying ice

The ice in Moultonboro Bay is getting grayer, but the cracks and bubbles aren't moving around yet. The rain tonight and wind tomorrow could start the end-game. Here's a shot looking north, with the...
