I kept mine on a mooring for many, many summers, never a problem other than having to walk out to it! Yes, you need a permit! Good luck!

Docks
We used Diversified Docks in Gilford. Dave is terrific. We had a 30 ft aluminum dock installed and they drop it in the spring and crank it up in Fall.
Love it!
