No, it's not what you said. Your message said that they "do not do that very well", in relation to being able to support voice and data connections simultaneously. The reality is that it doesn't work AT ALL, which is IMO quite a step beyond [not] very well.

Anything you saw or read is simply a scam and a complete fabrication. "Heavy modification" would involve removing and replacing the radio and related chips inside the iPhone itself. It would also rely on people being able to get pin-compatible replacement chips and changing the whole structure of the iPhone from being GSM/SIM based to being CDMA based.
