To Jack1706, Sorry for your lost and a big thank you to your father for his service. But, do not worry, that story will never go away. My grandfather passed a year and a half ago, I still think about his stories of when he served in WWII in the CBI theater as a Batallion Runner. They are alive with you now and it is your chance to pass those stories on to your children and family members. Those stories along with my grandmothers, (his wife) cousins husband Renee Gagnon will never be forgotten. I did not even know of the relation until I read the book Flags of Our Fathers and was talking about it with my grandmother.
