Some large, well-managed forums, such as this one, retain nearly everything written for here "indefinitely".

"Archived" comments made at this forum can still be found dating from 2001. This forum pre-dates 2001, but I've never been inclined to look for threads earlier than that. Those may even be "disappeared".
