1) Last year was the 250th anniversary (semiquincentennial) of that 1759 battle.
2) General Wolfe didn't live to see the victory attributed to him. His 4500 troops are in the background of this painting.

Wolfeboro

).
3) General Wolfe was mortally wounded by a British
deserter!
4) General Wolfe was likely
embalmed and is entombed in
Westminster Abbey, England.
5) Taking the hint (a cannon pointed at his house just as the Revolutionary War got heated up), Governor Wentworth escaped to
Nova Scotia, where he became Lieutenant Governor, 1792 – 1808.
