During the late '60's, early 70's, they rented out the carriage house to Belknap College students.
I'm not sure it's greed on the sellers part but perhaps a way to live without concern for the rest of their lives after working hard and putting in their time. Perhaps the money will help their children/grandchildren go to college, buy homes of their own, or even some donated to charity. I think it's unfair to call them greedy...
