Flume gorge and Cannon tram are a nice way to spend a day about an hour north. You'll want to stop at the Basin while in the area too, very neat thing to see. If you find yourself near Story Land, go north on route 16 a few miles to see Glen Ellis Falls. Very interesting. A bit north of there is the Mount Washington Auto Road another nice way to spend a day. If you want to see a moose, it's hard to beat the portion of route 16 between Glen Ellis Falls and Route 2. I hear Lost River is quite nice but I have never been.
