The forecasters have backed off on the expected snow accumulation for the Lakes Region, and are now estimating more like 8 - 12" from today's storm. At 10:00 AM this morning we only have about 1" of heavy, wet snow on the ground in West Alton.
I don't think the ice thickness or density were impacted much by the mild weather we've had recently. There's slush on the surface in places but that's from melting snow. About 75' out from our shoreline there is about 15" of solid, black ice.
