A little more on the wolf population in NH:

To his last question, I'd answer tht the coyote is persecuted [while the wolf is not] because they are plentiful. Wolves don't tolerate coyotes in their territory, so there will likely be a gradual -- but minimal -- displacement of coyotes.

Folks (like my family) with those wolf-derived creatures we call dachshunds often get stared at (maybe it's all dogs -- I don't know) . Somebody with too much time on their hands sent me this:
