Maybe it would refill with the tears of hundreds or thousands of those of us who would mourn the passing and pray for a rebirth.
A natural spring here, a rerouted mountain run off there. Who knows? This wonderful lake will live on long after any of us here.
There is just no treasure anywhere (including the bottom of a drained lake) that would replace the joy that Winnipesaukee (lake, loons, mountains, Forum, friends, restaurants, churches, eagles, islands, flowers, boats, etc etc ) holds for so many.
