Another article in the UL today:
http://www.unionleader.com/article.a...f-183e0b837b03

The beginning of the article is important to end the speculation here. I bolded the good stuff.

BRETTON WOODS – The corporate owners of the Omni Mount Washington Resort have applied for a federal trademark to prevent other lodging facilities from using its name, but say they are not trying to keep anyone else from using the name of the highest peak in the Northeast.

"The Mount Washington Resort at Bretton Woods has been using 'Mount Washington' as one of its brand names for more than a century, and under well-established legal precedents, that means the resort already owns that trademark for its resort services," Stephen K. Rice, managing director and senior vice president of the resort's owner, CNL Lifestyle Company LLC, wrote in a letter provided to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

CNL Lifestyle Company today will file a clarification with the U.S. Trademark Office in Washington, D.C., stating that the trademark would apply only to hotels, lodges and inns named in such a way that it could create confusion, Rice said yesterday. It would not pertain to companies outside the lodging, hotel and inn industry, he said.
