As someone who has to eat gluten free, I would just state to learn what you can and can not eat. Your wife probably got that from her nutritionist. Gluten is in things you'd never expect it like Campbells tomato soup, salad dressings, etc.

Most chain restaurants like Olive Garden have gluten free menus so just ask.
