$1.25 a square foot is really inexpensive, at least for my area (Sunapee area). Of the 5 companies that we have/do dealt/deal with, not a single one is under $2.25 a foot. Konopka has always been at the top of the scale in pricing, but the work speaks for itself.
Just offering a comparison, don't blame you for shopping it, if you are not comfortable with the cost.
There are major differences in quality from one company to the next, would recommend getting some refs and maybe a chance to look a floor over. One company over here charges $2.60 a foot and does a terrible job, from sanding to finish to overall control of dust and equipment, just awful.
